Upside down text generator

This free upside down text generator changes ordinary letters, numbers, and punctuation into Unicode characters that look rotated. With both options selected, it also reverses the character order so each line reads like text turned through 180 degrees.

How to make upside down text

Type or paste into “Your text.” The result updates as you write. Choose Copy text and paste it into a message, social bio, caption, or any text field that accepts the characters. Use Clear to start again, or Try an example to restore the sample.

Flip letters or reverse the order

Keep both options on for the usual upside down effect. Turn off “Reverse order” to flip the characters while keeping their original positions. Turn off “Flip characters” to get ordinary text written backwards. Turning both off gives you the original text. Blank lines and line order are preserved in every mode.

Copyable characters, without a font download

The result is real text rather than a screenshot or a visual rotation on this page. It can travel with your copy and paste. The appearance depends on the destination app and its fonts; a missing character may show as a box. Some apps restrict symbols in usernames even when the same text works in a message or bio.

Why some characters stay the same

Letters such as o, s, x, and z already look similar when rotated. Others use the closest available symbol: a becomes ɐ, e becomes ǝ, and t becomes ʇ. Uppercase letters and digits use visual approximations, so the result is a playful text effect rather than an exact rotation of every glyph.

Characters without a substitute stay unchanged. Accented letters, emoji, and non-Latin writing may therefore produce a mixture of flipped and original characters. Joined emoji and combining marks are kept together when the order is reversed. Longer flipped passages can be difficult to read, so short messages usually work best.
